Starting from the new academic year, Hadaf High Schools will no longer admit students to the 1st grade of the Russian sector. The decision was announced during the semi-annual meeting of Hadaf High School and has sparked extensive discussions within the educational community.
The Founding Director of the high school, Associate Professor Shamil Sadiq, stated that there are two main reasons for this step: a decrease in demand for the Russian sector and the school's transition to a bilingual — Azerbaijani-English — educational model. According to him, Russian will henceforth be offered as a second foreign language, and opportunities will remain for those wishing to learn it.
"We are redefining our educational priorities. We expressed our preliminary thoughts on this last year; our new model is built upon the Azerbaijani and English languages," emphasized Shamil Sadiq.
Current students need not worry: those already studying in the Russian sector will continue their education according to the previous curriculum from the 2nd grade onwards. The decision applies only to newly admitted 1st-grade students.
Another significant update was announced during the meeting. Starting from the new academic year, students in grades 2–9 of the English and Russian sectors will use the same Azerbaijani language textbooks used in the Azerbaijani sector. This means that in all sectors, the Azerbaijani language will be taught for 5–9 hours per week, depending on the grade level.
