Abşeron Campus STEAM + N Lyceum

Hədəf STEAM Lyceum – Abşeron Campus

Established in 2018 as a national education brand, Hədəf Lyceum built its educational system on the Hədəf Concept. In response to high demand from parents, the school opened its new branch in 2020 in the Qurtuluş 93 residential complex located in Masazır settlement, Absheron district.

Situated on a 1.1-hectare area, the new Absheron branch functions as a kindergarten-to-lyceum complex and a career-oriented education institution. Since Hədəf Lyceum prioritizes a STEAM-based curriculum, the infrastructure of the campus supports the broad application of the “See, Touch, Do” principle. This approach allows students to learn through real-life experiences from kindergarten through grade 11, ultimately preparing them for professional careers upon graduation.

The preschool-to-lyceum complex will offer instruction in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English. It includes four fully-equipped workshops for learning technology, IT, and engineering skills; garden plots for each class; agricultural buildings for animal care; and a horseback riding arena. These facilities, aligned with the Ministry of Education’s vision for vocational training, allow for structured implementation of career-oriented education. The workshops are equipped for the development of 21st-century digital skills and reflect the growing importance of digital technologies.

Each workshop is outfitted with all the necessary tools and equipment for the production of real products. In the rapid prototyping section, students can design any product they imagine using 2D and 3D modeling software. To visualize their creations in real life, they can print the models using 3D printers, a key element of Industry 4.0 technologies. In the mechanical workshop, students will work with mechanical tools and machines, learn how 2-axis and 3-axis CNC machines operate, and use them to cut and shape their designed models.

Since automation plays a vital role in today's world, electronic devices and systems are becoming an inseparable part of our lives. To meet this reality, an electronics workshop has been established where students can build their own electronic projects or automate their mechanical designs. Here, they will learn about various electronic components, understand the logic behind microcontrollers (the brain of automated devices), and design their own circuit boards. As a final project, students will engage in the full production cycle of a product—from concept to creation—and even participate in marketing and selling their final products. This hands-on experience ensures that graduates will leave school with a viable professional skill. The first planned products will focus on robotics kits for use in educational institutions.

On a specially designated plot of land, students will grow their own food as part of extracurricular activities, fostering a close relationship with nature. Nestled in a peaceful, spacious environment near the Salt Lake, the campus also includes a gym, football field, swimming pool, dedicated bicycle lanes, and an archery area.

Today, we have added "Nature" to the core pillars of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Thanks to the campus's large yard and garden area, our goal is to raise future generations in harmony with nature. Science studies nature, and without nature, scientific advancement is impossible. Within the STEAM+N education model, students learn through direct interaction with nature—planting in their own gardens and exploring animal life in the school’s mini-zoo.

Hədəf Lyceum was established based on the foundation of "Hədəf Courses" LLC, with a vision to contribute to the modernization goals of our nation’s founders. The lyceum is committed to delivering an education built on the interdisciplinary connection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) and the “learning by doing” approach. The curriculum combines both national and progressive international standards. The school environment meets modern educational needs while aligning with the strategic vision of President Ilham Aliyev to modernize and develop education in Azerbaijan through a STEAM-based framework.

Globally, STEAM-based education is rapidly gaining momentum, and institutions around the world are increasingly collaborating to support and promote it. According to a UNESCO report on engineering, this field is recognized as a driver of social, economic, and humanitarian progress. Despite its importance, a shortage of engineers is cited as a current and future obstacle to sustainable development.

As the first lyceum in Azerbaijan to implement STEAM education under its own original concept, Hədəf Lyceum aims to cultivate a new generation of Wise Individuals for the 21st century—creative thinkers who understand and integrate science, engineering, technology, and mathematics for the advancement of both our nation and the world.
