At the Nasimi branch of Hədəf STEAM Lyceum, an event dedicated to the International School Library Day was held.
The event was opened by the head of the branch library, Zəkiyyə Məmmədova, who spoke about the meaning and origins of the day. A video prepared by the students of the lyceum, dedicated to “School Library Day,” was presented. Information was also shared about the projects implemented at the lyceum to promote reading and improve the organization of library work.
Writer, author of popular science and science fiction books for children, educator, PhD in mathematics, and associate professor Reyhan Yusifqızı spoke about the earliest books, manuscripts, and medieval libraries. She also introduced her own works to the students and answered their questions.
The scientific secretary of the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Shəbnəm Rüstəmova, gave a presentation on “The Role of Libraries in the Digital Age.” Excerpts from the Central Scientific Library’s film “100 Years of History” were shown.
The head of “Khan Publishing House”, writer and publisher Səbuhi Şahmursoy, talked with the students about the importance of library work and the vital role of books in our lives.
Writer, editor, and historian Xəyalə Murad delivered a speech titled “The School Library – My First Source of Inspiration.”
At the end of the event, commemorative photos were taken with the guests.
